On 15 May, Stage 3 B of the 15th International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Making Competition took place at the Adam Mickiewicz University Auditorium in Poznań. The concert auditions with symphony orchestra marked the culmination of the competition, offering a unique opportunity to assess the tonal qualities of the instruments in concert conditions.
The Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Marek Pijarowski, was joined by its concertmaster, Marcin Suszycki. The jury and audience listened to an excerpt from the first movement of Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26. The performances on finalist instruments were complemented by a rendition on the reference violin – a Pietro Guarneri III from Mantua, made circa 1710.
